cazstarbangWelcome to the CazStar Big Bang! Big Bangs challenge authors to write long pieces of fanfiction, and artists to create accompanying art for that fanfiction. This Big Bang is all about our favorite BG3 vampires, Cazador and Astarion!
Even if you've participated in past Big Bangs before, please read the Information and FAQ again, as the rules for this Bang might differ.
How It Works
There will be two kinds of sign-ups for this year: author sign-ups and artist sign-ups. If you think you have it in you to write and do art, you can sign up for both. All sign-ups will happen at the same time, but artist claims will happen further along.
This Big Bang has a minimum word count of 20,000 words. Authors will have about 3 months to finish their fics. We will have two check-ins before the submission drafts. Drafts must hit 75% of the word count minimum (18750 words) for submission before artist claims!
If you know you want to write, but don’t know exactly what you want your story to be about yet, that’s ok - sign up anyway! We’ll have a prompt post where people can put up prompts and discuss ideas.
Artists sign up to collaborate with an author. Once the authors submit their summaries (along with the 75% draft), mods will post them anonymously for the artists to claim. If there are more authors than artists, artists may claim more than one story. We will put out more information about the claiming process when artist claims draw near. Artists get around two months to create their works. Authors must send their WIPs to artists for collaboration.
For posting, authors can post on AO3, LJ or Dreamwidth. Please avoid posting on Tumblr to avoid “read more” issues. Artists can post to Tumblr, Deviantart, LJ, Dreamwidth or Twitter. Fics and artwork must link to each other. Fics and artwork must not be posted anywhere until the author’s posting date.

Am I allowed to sign up as an author and artist?
Yes, but please make sure you keep track of check-ins and deliver on time.
What are the fic requirements?
The minimum word count for this Big Bang is 20,000 words. All fics must be beta-read. All fics will receive art.
Can I finish a WIP for the challenge?
In the spirit of the challenge, we’d like to encourage everyone to write new fic. If you have a WIP that is unshared and unposted, you can finish it, provided you still write 20,000 words on top of the words you already have. We will accept a sequel to an already-existing fic as long as is can be read as a standalone fic.
What kind of art can I make?
Acceptable kinds of art include: traditional and digital drawings, fanmixes, fanvids, podfics, photosets and gifsets. If you want to do something and you’re not sure it’s allowed, please contact us!
What are the art requirements?
For drawings, a completed, colored drawing. For fanmixes, at least 8 songs and cover art. For gifsets, a minimum of 6 gifs, and for photosets, a minimum of 8 total images used across multiple sets. One photo manip will count as one image in a photoset. Art must also be created for the fic and for the challenge, and must not have been posted or shared anywhere beforehand.
What pairings/themes are allowed?
This is a CazStar-only challenge. Only works with Cazador/Astarion as the main pairing are allowed. If you are creating a work that features graphic depictions of violence, major character death, rape/non-con or underage sexual content, please use appropriate warnings when posting.
